Obesity in the United States has reached epidemic proportions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that 66 percent of the American population, aged 20 or older, is either overweight or obese. Overweight and obese people are at higher risk for various health disorders such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, osteoarthritis, gall bladder disease, sleep apnea, respiratory problems, and certain types of cancer.
What is the cause of obesity? One of the factors for weight gain is consuming too many more calories than we burn! There could be other medical reasons such as thyroid issues, genetics or other eating disorders.
But here’s promising news for those wanting to lose those extra pounds. More and more research indicates the potential weight-reducing properties of Green Tea. To lose body weight the body must consume less calories and burn more energy. One study found that GreenTea drinkers burn as much as 4% more energy or calories than people who did not consume Green Tea. This study is documented in Efficacy of a greentea extract rich in catechin polyphenols and caffeine in increasing 24-h energy expenditure and fat oxidation in humans.in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. These results are further confirmed in a 2006 study called Green tea extract thermogenesis-induced weight loss by epigallocatechin gallate inhibition of catechol-O-methyltransferase.
Three ingredients in the GreenTea weight loss process are major chemical components which help the body to burn fat—antioxidants called catechins, especially epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), caffeine, and theanine. These work in the body through a process called thermogenesis (fat-burning process). Studies suggest that Green Tea inhibits gastric and pancreatic lipase and the enzymes that digest triglycerides. They also appear to inhibit fatty acid synthetase, the enzyme which synthesizes fatty acids into a form which can be stored in the body’s adipose (fat) cells. Phytomedicine, 2002 documents these properties in Recent findings of greentea extract AR25 (Exolise) and its activity for the treatment of obesity.
Green Tea not only is believed to promote the loss of fat, but specifically the loss of visceral fat. Visceral fat accumulates in the tissues lining the abdominal cavity and surrounding the intestines and internal organs. Visceral fat is usually associated with “apple” shaped bodies, as against “pear” shaped bodies.
The antioxidants found in GreenTea play an important role when metabolic rate increases during the oxidation of fat. Oxidation of fat produces free radical activity leading to a number of harmful diseases. Green Tea antioxidants help to reduce free radical activity in the body.
Weight-reducing properties of GreenTea and continuing research on this subject raises the possible potential of the Green Tea weight loss therapy.
GreenTea is also known to have overall beneficial effects on most health concerns. Research indicates its use in lowering the risk of certain types of cancers, coronary heart disease, arthritis, increasing immunity, healthy metabolism, improving liver function and in regulating blood sugar levels and therefore keeping diabetes under control.
However, the importance of a proper balanced diet—low in saturated fats, high in fiber, lots of fruits and vegetables, and low in calories—should never be undermined. Doctors recommend a good diet and plenty of regular physical exercise as the best way to lose weight. Green Tea and its related products, like GreenTea Plus, can nutritionally assist your body in the weight loss process.
If you are not used to drinking tea, or don’t have the time to brew it every day, Green Tea Plus or other GreenTea supplements (in the form of powder, gum, candy pills or drops), can give you the health supplements you need from Green Tea. Green Tea Plus is all natural and convenient to use, containing all the nutritional benefits of GreenTea in its natural form, plus 72 trace elements essential for good nutrition.

The thermogenic effect of tea is generally attributed to its caffeine content. We report here that a greentea extract stimulates brown adipose tissue thermogenesis to an extent which is much greater than can be attributed to its caffeine content per se, and that its thermogenic properties could reside primarily in an interaction between its high content in catechin-polyphenols and caffeine with sympathetically released noradrenaline (NA). Since catechin-polyphenols are known to be capable of inhibiting catechol-O-methyl-transferase (the enzyme that degrades NA), and caffeine to inhibit trancellular phosphodiesterases (enzymes that break down NA-induced cAMP), it is proposed that the green tea extract, via its catechin-polyphenols and caffeine, is effective in stimulating thermogenesis by relieving inhibition at different control points along the NA-cAMP axis. Such a synergistic interaction between catechin-polyphenols and caffeine to augment and prolong sympathetic stimulation of thermogenesis could be of value in assisting the management of obesity. Greentea extract weight loss? Before they try green tea extract weight loss supplements, many people have already been disappointed by numerous weight loss supplements, products and training regimens. Some are pessimistic that green tea is just another of the thousand peddled scam products. So, let us review whether greentea is truly useful as a weight loss aid. Even if green tea extracts were not effective as weight fat loss triggers, incorporating them in your daily diet would definitely contribute great healthbenefits. However, for this article let us strictly consider weight loss possibilities while using greentea extracts.
Numerous scientific studies and authentic tests on both animals and humans have irrefutably established that green tea extracts aids in weight loss. Greentea extract weight loss is mainly achieved after an amplification of the body’s metabolism rate and efficiency such that you have a speedy metabolism rate to efficiently synthesize all ingested calories and any accumulated fat deposit. A regular dosage of 270 mg, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) helps stimulate thermogenesis along multiple body fat combustion processes. EGCG is an active ingredient of green tea extracts. According to several authentic 2008 tests conducted in the University of Chicago, greentea extracts with EGCG stimulate metabolism efficiency to an additional 8% within 24 hours after intake. This translates to extra 80 calories being burnt daily.
As such, green tea extract weight loss is determined by your metabolism efficiency and speed. Low metabolic speed leads to an accumulation of fats while the converse is also true. If you are to loose body fat, you must rev up your metabolism. This can easily be done using green tea extracts. If you compliment the greentea extracts with an exercise routine and a strict calorie-intake control, you will expend over 1460 calories daily. The average resting metabolic rate is at around 2,000 calories daily. Your body still requires some calories amounts for its normal functioning, and if you factor these together with the expended calories, you will have left none to be stored as fat deposits.
Besides fat oxidation efficiency, a green tea extract weight loss also accrues from green tea’s catechin polyphenols, which inhibit fatty acids absorption and also limits glucose conversion to fats. Greentea extracts also reduce appetite meaning that your eat fewer calories while oxidizing all the ones you consume.
These among other benefits makes green tea a must have in every dieter’s home. Luckily, greentea extract weight loss is no longer a Japanese secret for it has now been revealed to the rest of us.
Isabell Williams had been struggling with weight loss diets for many years until she started to integrate a healthy life style of good food, daily exercise and really trying to get fit on the inside!
Overweight is one of biggest health problems in the US. Being overweight can lead to many health problems – diabetes, stroke, heart disease, arthritis, cancer, hypertension and fatigue. If you are overweight, then losing weight is great way to prevent some of the health problems. Greentea helps you lose weight and this is healthy weight loss. Besides the weight loss benefit, there are other health benefits of green tea.
There are many fad diets, weight loss pills, low carb diets. Most of the times this will help you lose weight fast but you gain weight after a certain period of time. Green tea weight loss is safe. Decaffeinated greentea does not have the healthbenefits as the regular one because the process of removing caffeine involves a chemical process and this destroys the healthbenefits.
Historically, the Chinese have been using greentea as medicinal drink. The general consensus is that Chinese Emperor Shen Nung discovered green tea when he was boiling water and leaves from a tree fell into the pot! Greentea comes from the plant called Carmellia Sinensis.
The green tea has the healthbenefits because of the way it is processed. Greentea is steamed while processing and thus preserving its natural antioxidants. The black tea processing involves full oxidation and thus does not have the healthbenefits of the green tea. Both greentea and black tea still have the caffeine so if you are consuming this at night, then this will keep you awake. Caffeine can be harmful for the body since an excess of it can cause heart palpitations, hypertension, and insomnia. Because green tea diets contain only very low levels of caffeine, there is no danger of experiencing these side-effects.
1. It prevents Cancer. Greentea contains catechin polyphenols especially epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG. This is a powerful antioxidant that is known to not only destroy cancer cells but also prevent cancer. The latest studies on green tea were able to prove that greentea diet can effectively protect the skin from damage due to ultraviolet light radiation. Green tea is also widely recognized as a substance that can protect against different types of cancers such as stomach cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, oral cancer, cancer of the colon, breast and cervical cancers.
2. EGCG reduces LDL cholesterol (the harmful cholesterol). This prevents the blood from forming clots, which is a leading cause of heart attacks! The study on greentea diets was conducted in China using 240 people with high cholesterol levels as volunteers. They were placed on a green tea diet of one capsule (equivalent to seven cups of greentea) or were given one placebo every day. After twelve weeks, those who were on a green tea diet dropped sixteen percent in their cholesterol levels.
.
3. The weight loss (or fat loss) is because EGCG in greentea diet increases the 24-hour energy expenditure of the body. A research on green tea diets conducted by American and Swiss scientists in the University of Geneva showed an additional increase of four percent in the body’s natural energy expenditure. People who were on a greentea diet were more likely to use up more fats than those not on a green tea diet.
4. Greentea can also be a potential cure to obesity. The catechin polyphenols present in green tea diets can delay the reaction of gastric and pancreatic lipases in the body. These enzymes convert calories in the body into fats. By delaying this enzymatic activity, greentea diets can prevent fat from being stored and hence prevent obesity.
As mentioned earlier, green tea contains caffeine that makes it a mild an appetite-suppressant. However, caffeine content in greentea diets is not as high as those found in other caffeine-based beverages, like coffee. In conclusion, green tea has many healthbenefits including weight loss and fat loss. This method is proven and is natural. There are variations of green diets like the green tea pills, greentea capsules, green tea patches etc. These make it convenient for you to carry them while traveling and could be more concentrated. If possible, try to consume green as a drink.
